When we say this is a rare opportunity, we are not exaggerating. World-class banjoist Béla Fleck has never before taught at a banjo camp. Yet this August at Blue Ridge Banjo Camp, in addition to teaching, he is hand-picking the teachers and hand-crafting the course work. He is tailoring it, he says, "to students who are just as excited about the banjo as we are, and that are banjo nerds to the core!"
How do you apply for a scholarship? First, you apply to the camp. Blue Ridge Banjo Camp is taking a new approach: they are looking for intermediate and advanced players, and they ask all potential students to submit an audition video. (There's no fee for submitting.) Béla will then select this year's camp students, and design the curriculum taking into account their styles and levels of ability. All students selected for the camp will be sent instructions on how to apply for this full scholarship. (There is no fee for the scholarship application.) You must be an IBMA member in good standing to be considered for this scholarship.
