King James Boys Release to Radio

The Little End Of Something BigSouth Carolina’s King James Boys announce that they have released their latest project The Little End Of Something Big to radio via AirPlay Direct this week. Band leader, lead vocalist and guitarist, Randy Spencer is very excited about the record and looking forward to traveling to promote it in 2017.

Ray Cardwell's “Tennessee Moon” Due January 17th

Tennessee MoonRay Cardwell's Pinecastle debut album, Tennessee Moon, is set for release on January 17th 2017 and is now available for preorder. The single, "Tennessee Moon," has debuted to good review. Tennessee Moon has a clear New Grass influence in producer Pat Flynn. However, with nine out of twelve tunes written by Cardwell, the album is his own take on that classic sound. Flynn also adds his talents on guitar and harmony vocals to the album along with fellow New Grass Revival alum John Cowan lending tenor and harmony vocals on many of the tracks (full personnel listing below). Cardwell has already built a touring band of incredible musicians to take his music on the road as Ray Cardwell & Tennessee Moon.

Smithsonian Folkways Makes More Than 5,500 Arhoolie Tracks Available

I Wonder Where You Are TonightSmithsonian Folkways is making more than 300 standout albums (over 5,500 tracks) from the famed Arhoolie Records catalog available digitally and on CD through the Smithsonian Folkways website starting October 21 (folkways.si.edu/arhoolie). The remaining titles from the roughly 650-album collection will be released on an ongoing basis. Arhoolie Records is best known for "down home" blues, jazz, country, gospel, Cajun, zydeco, Mexican-American, and world music. Smithsonian Folkways acquired the Arhoolie catalog in May 2016 from its founder Chris Strachwitz and his business partner Tom Diamente. It is the largest addition to the Smithsonian Folkways catalogue since it launched in 1987, bringing the total number of available tracks to almost 60,000.
