The Blackberry Bushes and Front Country at Starry Plough

The Blackberry Bushes String BandThe Blackberry Bushes are a Northwest Alt-folk String Band. The Bushes’ innovative acoustic sound draws from the deep roots of American traditional music to create a rich patchwork that shares threads with artists like Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, Sean Hayes, and Crooked Still. Joyful singing and songwriting are supported by carefully constructed soundscapes that feature virtuosic fiddle. A longtime Northwest favorite, the band has developed into a national act, with recent tours across the US and Europe. Their live show is joyous and vibrant with an intention to move the audience in their hearts and out of their seats.

Carrie Hassler for Woodsongs Coffeehouse Concert to Benefit Shelter

An Evening with Carrie HasslerDalton, GA -- The Woodsongs Coffeehouse Dalton Chapter announces the return of their annual winter concert series to raise awareness and proceeds to complete construction of a new shelter by Providence Ministries. The facility at 613 Oxford Street in Dalton, Georgia will provide shelter for 60 men when construction is completed . An estimated $75,000 to $100,000 is needed to complete construction of the shelter. The highly acclaimed concert series features emerging and established performers of Americana, Country, and Bluegrass music. The concerts will be held in the intimate and eclectic setting of the historic Dalton Freight Depot located at 305 S. Depot Street in downtown Woodsongs Dalton Chapter Dalton Georgia. Seating is limited and performances typically sellout.

Tim White and the VW Boys in Concert Jan 26

VW BoysHiltons, VA -- A longtime supporter of the Carter Fold and the traditions of Appalachia, Tim White settled in east Tennessee in 1974 and pursued his dream of being an artist, sign painter, and banjo picker. Tim's music has gained a strong following throughout the region, and he’s fronted several bands over the past two decades - including Troublesome Hollow, the Beagles, and the VW Boys. Saturday, January 26th, 2013, at 7:30 p.m., the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a concert of bluegrass music by the Tim White and the VW Boys. Admission to the concert is $8 for adults, $1 for children 6 to 11, under age 6 free.

Masters and Legends to Present Unforgettable Night Of Bluegrass

Bluegrass MastersBristol, TN/VA -- Lucky audiences in Bristol, Tennesssee and Bowling Green, Kentucky are slated to be the first to enjoy an unparalleled bluegrass musical experience when two new bands of bluegrass legends and masters, for whom the term “supergroup” seems grossly inadequate, make their first road appearances since each debuted at the International Bluegrass Music Association’s World of Bluegrass last October. This has been rescheduled for March 15th due to bad weather.

These two bands will perform LIVE this Saturday, January 19th on the Barter Theatre Main Stage.

The Spinney Brothers Benefit Concert for Bluegrass Music Museum

When the band realized they had a couple of extra days available for travel, they immediately called the IBMM and offered their services for this very worthy cause. "We are huge supporters of the IBMM and its goal of preserving the history of bluegrass music," stated Rick Spinney. "We couldn't think of a better way for us to promote that cause than to offer to perform a concert to benefit the museum."

When the two of them met at the Galax Old Time Fiddlers Convention in 2007 it wasn’t long before they teamed up to form a band. She also plays autoharp, fiddle, banjo, and sings. Bonnie has played at numerous festivals and local venues.

March 1st Grass In The Hall Concert Announced

McLain Family BandThe McLain Family Band has been performing at Carter Family shows since Janette Carter first began presenting concerts in the old A.P. Carter Grocery in 1974. Raymond McLain, Sr., (now deceased) formed the family band in the late 1960s when his five children were very young. Mr. McLain was a Carter Family Memorial Music Center board member from the day the center was created.
