New Spring Valley Boys at The Crooked Road Youth Music Series Concert

New Spring Valley BoysThe Crooked Road: Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail proudly presents a Youth Music Series Concert on Thursday, March 14th at 6:00 p.m. at Heartwood: Southwest Virginia’s Artisan Gateway. The concert will feature the New Spring Valley Boys from Grayson County. The New Spring Valley Boys grew out of the Albert Hash Memorial Band Program, directed by Emily Spencer, in Grayson County Public Schools. The band’s distinctive style merges the driving sounds of the Galax, VA, fiddle styles; the Round Peak, NC, styles of clawhammer banjo; and the rhythmic sound of old time guitar.

Flagler Museum Presents Bluegrass In The Pavilion Concert

Flagler MuseumPalm Beach, FL -- The 9th Annual Bluegrass in The Pavilion concert continues to bring the best Bluegrass musicians to South Florida. In 2013, Audie Blaylock and Redline and Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver will perform great Bluegrass music at this National Historic Landmark. All proceeds from the concert benefit South Arts’ emergency planning for Gulf Coast cultural institutions. The event takes place Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. The Pavilion will open at 2:30 p.m. and tickets are just $30.

Jeff Brown & Still Lonesome Play Traditional Bluegrass at Carter Fold

Jeff Brown & Still LonesomeHiltons, VA -- As a member of Larry Sparks and the Lonesome Ramblers, Jeff Brown has performed on many famous stages such as the Grand Ole Opry, Austin City Limits, the Ryman Auditorium, and Song of the Mountains – just to name a few. Jeff also toured with the Charlie Sizemore Band and has done fill in duties with Blue Highway, Rhonda Vincent, Dr. Ralph Stanley, and many more. The Still Lonesome Band is made up of Austin Brown, Noah Brown, Meredith Goins, Josh Blankenship, and Josh Underwood. Saturday, March 9th, 2013, at 7:30 p.m. the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a concert by Jeff Brown and Still Lonesome. Admission to the concert is $8 for adults, $1 for children 6 to11, under age 6 free.

BCM Presents Bela Fleck & Abigail Washburn at Blue Stocking Club

Bela Fleck & Abigail WashburnThe Blue Stocking Club, Bristol’s longest running service organization, will bring the world’s most celebrated banjoist to the Paramount Center for the Arts in Historic Downtown Bristol in order to fund educational programming at the Birthplace of Country Music® Museum. The museum is slated to open on the corner of Moore and Cumberland Streets in Historic Downtown Bristol, VA/TN August 2014.

May 30th, Greenville, South Carolina's The Peace Center will feature Steve Martin, Edie Brickell and the Steep Canyon Rangers.

Kruger Brothers to Perform on Song of the Mountains

Kruger BrothersMarion, VA- The Kruger Brothers will headline the Song of the Mountains public television taping at the Lincoln Theatre in Marion, VA on Saturday, March 2nd. Originally from Switzerland, brothers Uwe and Jens Kruger began play­ing North American folk music at an early age and were particularly inspired by recordings of Doc Watson, Flatt and Scruggs, Bill Monroe, and other progenitors of country, bluegrass and folk music. Their first public performances were as a duo, busking on the streets of cities throughout eastern and western Europe.

Moccasin Gap Bluegrass Band to Carter Fold Feb 23rd

Moccasin Gap Bluegrass BandHiltons, VA -- Bluegrass band Moccasin Gap has a repertoire that includes traditional bluegrass tunes as well as more modern bluegrass tunes. The band has three recordings to their credit. Members of the group are: Luanne McMurray, Eric McMurray, Keith Sims, Bob Blackstock, and Daniel Housewright. Luanne is featured on vocals and upright bass. Eric plays the banjo and fiddle and does vocals. John Malayter plays mandolin. Daniel Housewrite plays lead guitar. Saturday, February 23rd, 2013, at 7:30 p.m. the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a concert by Moccasin Gap. This show was rescheduled due to a cancellation of their February 2nd show. Admission to the concert is $8 for adults, $1 for children 6 to 11, under age 6 free.

Bluegrass Music Comes Duty Free to Carter Family Fold

Duty FreeDuty Free is a bluegrass band based in Bristol, Tennessee. Members of the band are Bobby Love, Charlie Powers, Rick Powers, Hal Boyd, and Tim Laughlin. Bobby plays mandiolin and demonstrates his versatility as a musician by singing both lead and harmony. He’s a songwriter as well who has written several tunes performed by the group. Charlie plays both lead and rhythm guitar and sings lead and harmony. Rick plays banjo in the traditional Scruggs style and also lends his vocal talent to the band. Saturday, February 16, 2013, at 7:30 p.m., the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a concert of bluegrass music by the Duty Free Band. Admission to the concert is $8 for adults, $1 for children 6 to 11, under age 6 free.

Monroe Crossing at Carnegie Hall Feb 18

<Monroe CrossingMonday, February 18, 2013, Presidents' Day, Bluegrass 57@7 will host Bluegrass Music's Monroe Crossing as part of their program. The concerts will be held at the Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage at the world famous Carnegie Hall. The program is part of the Distinguished Concerts International New York.

Grayson Highlands BandHiltons, VA -- The Grayson Highlands Band, from the Jefferson, North Carolina area, plays a variety of old time music, ranging from rousing fiddle tunes to traditional songs and ballads.
