Carter Fold Presents Hogslop String Band April 23

Hogslop String BandHiltons, VA -- Saturday, April 23rd 2016, at 7:30 p.m., the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a concert of old time music by the Hogslop String Band. The Hogslop String Band is a Nashville based old time string band comprised of five energetic young musicians hailing from Georgia, Tennessee, California, and North Carolina. Featuring Casy Meikle and Kevin Martin on fiddles, Graham Sherrill on banjo, Gabriel Kelley on guitar, and Casey “Pickle” McBride on the washtub bass, these boys surely raise a ruckus.

Blue Ridge Music Center Announces 2016 Summer Concert Series

Steep Canyon RangersGalax, VA -- Beginning May 28, the Blue Ridge Music Center will welcome a stellar lineup of musicians to the venue at milepost 213 on the Blue Ridge Parkway for the 2016 Roots of American Music Concert Series. The season continues most Saturdays through September, and includes two fall heritage performances in October.

Musicians Against Childhood Cancer July 20-23, 2016

MACC 2015Galena, OH -- This year, Darrel Adkins and The Bluegrass Classic present the Annual Musicians Against Childhood Cancer (MACC) in memory of Mandy Adkins. The event will take place at Hoover Y-Park in Columbus, Ohio July 20 through 23, 2016. This annual bluegrass music festival benefits St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Musicians Against Childhood Cancer assists the victims of Childhood Cancer, their families, treating physicians and research facilities in the diagnosis, treatment and eradication of childhood cancer to provide financial assistance to the victims, their families and physicians and research facilities and to provide such service or services free of charge.

Hotshot rockabilly pianist Jeff Little comes from Boone, North Carolina, in the heart of the Blue Ridge, where he grew up surrounded by music. Jeff began to play piano at age five. His family owned a music store, and musicians of all persuasions dropped by to play a few tunes with the kid, which helps account for Jeff's mastery of a range of styles.

The Winding Stream – the Carters, the Cashes, and the Course of Country Music

The Carter FamilySunday, April 10th, 2016, at 2:30 p.m., the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a special documentary screening of The Winding Stream – the Carters, the Cashes, and the Course of Country Music. The documentary was nearly ten years in the making and contains some of the last interviews with Janette Carter, Joe Carter, and Johnny Cash. There will be music by Eugene Wolfe & Friends both before and after the screening. A question and answer panel will follow the screening.

Due to high demand, The Grand Ole Opry has added a second show to the Saturday, April 2nd lineup with ticketed performances at 7:00pm and 9:30pm CT. If you ever saw Larry Sigmon and the Unique Sound of the Mountains, you know the sound was unlike anything you ever heard before. Over the course of more than ten albums and several years of performing, Larry Sigmon and his late partner Barbara Poole continuously brought the house down with a variety of fast-paced mountain music tunes fueled by Sigmon’s high-speed claw hammer banjo picking and Poole’s infectious “heartbeat” bass plucking. While there were several groups out there that could get you onto the dance floor, no old time band could wear out your clogging shoes faster than the Unique Sound of the Mountains.

Radio Bristol Premieres Presents Sierra Hull May 5
