Scott Vestal Receives 2017 Steve Martin Excellence in Banjo & Bluegrass Award

Steve Martin Excellence in Banjo & BluegrassSteve Martin Announced that Scott Vestal is this year's winning recipient of the Steve Martin Excellence in Banjo & Bluegrass trophy and prize. The award is presennted by Martin each year and includes the bronze trophy along with a $50,000 cash award. The award was presented Saturday during the RockyGrass Blluegrass Music Festival held in Lyons, Colorado.

Doug Flowers & Friends Release Bluegrass Album

Doug Flowers & FriendsDoug Flowers is a veteran bluegrass musician and songwriter from Hephzibah GA. Doug performed on the road as a teenager with Betty Fisher and after graduating college, formed the bluegrass band Avalanche with Eddie Hoyle, Jim Iler, David Blackmon and Chris Black. This group worked throughout Georgia until the passing of Mr. Black in 2002. Doug also worked with the late Al Osteen. Doug was also an original member of both The Little Roy & Lizzy Show and Clinton Gregory. Doug has joined many artists for his latest project, Doug Flowers & Friends.

Tiller’s Folly Wins Big In The 11th Independent Music Awards Vox Pop Poll

Tiller's FollyCanadian based trio Tillers’ Folly joins more than 70 exceptional self-released and independent label artists, as well as former major label acts lifted from a nominated list of more than 340 acts to win the coveted Top Song in the Social Cause category in the prestigious 11th annual Independent Music Awards (The IMAs) Vox Pop Poll, the influential awards program voted online by more than 60,000 music fans from around the globe. They won for their song “Death & Taxes”, which finds them paired with guest vocalists Josh Shilling (Mountain Heart) and legendary singer John Cowan (New Grass Revival, Doobie Brothers). The song is from their acclaimed 2012 self-released album, “Go The Road”

C.W. Mundy's 'Road Trip' Arrives at Radio Monday

Road TripC.W. Mundy will soon be celebrating the August 2nd release of his Moon Surf Records debut recording, Road Trip, an eclectic mix of original banjo-driven tunes with the acclaimed fine arts painter at the wheel. To whet the appetite of current and future fans of the artiste, four songs will be made available to radio this Monday, July 18th, via Airplay Direct. Two instrumentals and two featuring the lead vocals of Alice Vestal, the tunes serve as a representative cross-section for all sixteen tracks on Mundy's project.
