60th Grammy Award Nominations Announced

Best Bluegrass Album NominationsThe award nominees for the 60th Annual Grammy Awards have been announced. In the Best Bluegrass Album category we have five albums spreading the breadth of the style realm in the genre. In addition to the bluegrass category, we find our friend Larry Cordle up for Best Roots Gospel Album for Give Me Jesus, Alison Krauss is up for Best American Roots Performance for "I Never Cared For You" and Best Country Solo Performance for "Losing You", and "Cumberland Gap", David Rawlings & Gillian Welch, songwriters, is up for Best American Roots Song. Many other of our favorite artists are scattered throughout the nominees list

Bluegrass Music's Biggest Night Award Winners

IBMA Awards LogoBluegrass Music's Biggest Night, the International Bluegrass Music Awards honored the genre's outstanding contributors and artists. The awards are voted upon by the professional membership of the association through a three ballot process. The 2017 awards took place Thursday night in Raleigh, NC. There were multiple categories of awards and, the formal induction for the Hall of Fame inductees. The main awards, special awards, momentum awards and Hall of Fame inductions comprises all of the IBMA award presentations.

Bluegrass Band Flatt Lonesome Captures Three Top SPBGMA Awards

Photo by LuAnn Adams, LAMA PhotographyFlatt Lonesome claimed three Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America (SPBGMA) Awards on Sunday, February 5th during the association's annual program held in Nashville, Tennessee. The band took home SPBGMA's Vocal Group of the Year and Bluegrass Band of the Year (Overall), and Charli Robertson claimed Female Vocalist of the Year.

The Farm Hands Come up Big at SPBGMA

The Farm HandsThe Farm Hands and members of the band have won six awards at the 2017 SPBGMA conference in Nashville, TN this past weekend. At the 2016 SPBGMA Bluegrass Music Awards, The Farm Hands collectively took home four awards. This followed up an incredible 2015 when they received one of the SPBGMA's highest honors, "Entertainer of the Year." They are one of the busiest touring bands in bluegrass, performing over 150 dates per year. For anyone who has seen them in concert, none of this comes as a surprise. The group features four award winning singers, musicians and songwriters: Tim Graves, Daryl Mosley, Keith Tew, and Don Hill.

2017 43rd SPBGMA Awards Winners Announced

Dean Eaton was generous enough to post the awards as they were announced on his Facebook page. The 43rd Annual SPBGMA Bluegrass Music Awards took place during the 34th National SPBGMA Convention held at the Sheraton Music City Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee. The awards show is definitely the highlight of the annual event and bluegrass music's biggest stars are always there participating in performances as well as collecting their respective trophies.

2016 IBMA Momentum Award Winners Announced

Lil’ SmokiesNashville, TN -- The International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) has announced the for the 2016 Momentum Awards which were handed out at a luncheon at the World of Bluegrass Business Conference, Wednesday, September 28, at the Raleigh Convention Center in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. The Momentum Awards focus on artists and industry people who are in the early stages of their bluegrass music careers. Performance awards go to one band, one vocalist and three instrumentalists, while three industry awards go to a Mentor, Industry Achiever and a Festival/Venue/Event.

IBMA Announces Special Awards Nominees

IBMA AwardsNashville, TN -- The International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) has announced the nominees for their Special Awards, honors that recognize outstanding work in categories including Broadcaster of the Year, Bluegrass Event of the Year, Best Graphic Design for a Recorded Project, Best Liner Notes for a Recorded Project, Print/Media Person of the Year and Bluegrass Songwriter of the Year. The Special Awards will be handed out Thursday, September 29, during a luncheon at the World of Bluegrass Business Conference at the Raleigh Convention Center in downtown Raleigh, NC.

International Music & Entertainment Association Bluegrass Awards

Along with the August announcement of the 2016 International Music and Entertainment Association award nominees came news of this year’s Early Honors Award Winners – which were nearly a clean sweep by bluegrass artists!

Birthplace of Country Music Receives Multiple Honors

Birthplace of Country Music HonorsBristol, VA/TN -- The Birthplace of Country Music (BCM), parent organization of the Birthplace of Country Music Museum, the Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion music festival, and Radio Bristol, took home top honors at the Northeast Tennessee Tourism Association's (NETTA) 19th annual Pinnacle Awards, including "Best of Show" for BCM's interactive remote exhibit at the Bristol, Virginia Welcome Center. BCM received two Pinnacle Awards for its public relations and advertising campaigns surrounding the CD release of Orthphonic Joy: The 1927 Bristol Sessions Revisited, an award was given for the organization's website, and one for the economic impact of Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion, which is estimated to add more than $16 million in tax revenue for Bristol and the surrounding region.

Chris Stapleton Captures Numerous ACM Awards

Cohosted by Luke Bryan and Dierks Bentley, the awards honors and showcases the biggest names and emerging talent in Country Music today. Once again, Chris Stapleton captured not only the spotlight but many awards as well.

Berklee to Present American Master Awards at Music City Roots

Gillian Welch and David RawlingsBoston, MA -- Berklee will present American Master Awards to legendary record producer, songwriter and recording artist T Bone Burnett, as well as the acclaimed roots duo of Gillian Welch and David Rawlings on a special Tuesday night edition of Music City Roots, the variety weekly music broadcast from the Factory in Franklin, TN. The show, set for March 15, 2016, will feature performances by outstanding Berklee alumni Sierra Hull (’11), Liz Longley (’10) and Maureen Murphy ('99). Berklee alumni Welch and Rawlings will perform as well, closing the show following presentation of the awards.

Birthplace of Country Music MuseumBristol, VA -- The Birthplace of Country Music Museum has recently been recognized with a variety of industry awards and commendations, including the Southeastern Museums Conference 2015 Technology Competition, the British Guild of Travel Writers 2015 Tourism Awards, and the American Alliance of Museums 2015 Museum Publications Design Competition.
