Kody Norris for Rural Roots Music Commission Bluegrass CD of the Year Award

Kody NorrisThe Rural Roots Music Commission was formed a number of years ago, in Iowa, to find a way to honor excelling recording artists who deal with traditional old-time music, and many other traditional rural musical art forms. Since most traditional music genre's have now been locked out of participation at the national level in America, the Rural Roots folks found a way to honor these gifted musicians, vocalists, songwriters, recording artists and small production companies, by honoring them with 'CD of the Year' awards. One of the participants in this rather large 'gathering' of musical genres is Kody Norris of Mountain City, Tennessee.

Fold Bluegrass with Kody Norris & the Watauga Mountain Boys

Kody NorrisKody Norris is young, confident, and bluegrass proud. He’s been fronting his own band now for over nine years, but he’s been playing bluegrass music for much longer. Kody grew up in Mountain City, Tennessee. According to Norris, playing bluegrass in the traditional style is the only way he knows how to play it – or wants to play it. Saturday February 15th, 2014, at 7:30 p.m. the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a concert of traditional bluegrass music by Kody Norris and the Watauga Mountain Boys. Adult admission to the concert is $10, $1 for children 6 to 11, and under age 6 free.
